Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s newest film, “Don 2,” has surpassed the 2011 record for the highest-grossing Bollywood movie in North America.

In just 11 days, from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2nd, the Farah Akhtar-directed action flick grossed $3.3 million, beating the previous record of $3.1 million in 10 weeks for “Zindagi Na Milegi,” which starred Hrithik Roshan. If “Don 2″ continues its strong streak, it’s poised to become one of the top grossing Bollywood films in North America of all time (“3 Idiots” at $6.5 million and “My Name is Khan” at $4 million currently hold the honors).

Preparations for two of the most awaited weddings of the year, Kareena Kapoor with Saif Ali Khan and Genelia D’Souza with Riteish Deshmukh are already on in full swing. The families have already decided on the dates and invites will soon be sent out in the industry.

Though the official date for Kareena and Saif’s wedding is yet to be revealed, sources say, the wedding will take place sometime in between March and April, right after their film Agent Vinod releases. Tabu, who is known to be very selective about her roles in films, has been signed by Bejoy Nambiar for his next venture, David. This will be Bejoy's second film after his successful directorial debut with Shaitaan. Interestingly, this film will star Vikram, who had previously told CT that he'd soon be teaming up with Bejoy. When contacted, Nambiar confirmed that Tabu will indeed play a pivotal role in his film. "She is so important in the film. All I can say is that she plays a very quirky character," he says. The first day of the 11th Auto Expo saw some of the biggest names from the B-town including mega star Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham adding Bollywood glamour to the car show.

Another Khan of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan is riding high on success. With biggies in hand, Saifu has come a long way in the industry. Speaking about his choice of films he says, “I want to do subjects which are made for ‘men’. Heroism in Bollywood has almost disappeared. It would be a great change if movies made by men for men made a comeback.”

Mumbai: While many in Bollywood have rubbished the recent decision of the Maharshtra government to raise the eligibility age for drinking alcohol from 21 to 25, some do endorse the state government decision.r

Veteran star Hema Malini, also an active Bharatiya Janata Party politician, supports the government's decision. "I think it's a very good decision," she says.r

Director Anant Mahadevan is all for the ban. "I support the move because cigarettes and alcohol are the most abused substances. I say why not ban cigarettes too for under 25?"r
